| The industrial base of the Latrobe Area has many facets. Metals, carbide, plastics and more are part of a diversified manufacturing base. Included among the areas industrial employers are Kennametal Inc., one of the worlds leading producers of cutting tools and wear-resistant parts made of cemented carbide; Latrobe Specialty Steel Company, maker of high performance specialty steels and alloys; Westinghouse Specialty Metals, a manufacturer of seamless tubing for nuclear reactors and steam generators; Pace Industries Airo Division, which makes precision aluminum die castings; TSI Titanium, manufacturer of titanium products and specialty metals; Ceratizit USA, makers of tungsten carbide products for metal-cutting and wear applications; Classic Industries, specializing in plastic injection molding; and Saint-Gobain Ceramics, which makes wear-resistant alumina ceramics for industrial applications. |

Ceramics-related manufacturers include Morgan Technical Ceramics, Hydro Carbide, and Elizabeth Carbide Components; lumber processor Gutchess Hardwoods, Inc.; Quikrete Pittsburgh, maker of cement products and services; and City Brewing Company, LLC, a contract producer of various beverage products. |
| Some of our other industrial neighbors include Allegheny Ludlum, Lehigh Specialty Melting, Carclo Technical Plastics, Menasha, Westmoreland Plastics, and Westmoreland Mechanical Testing and Research, to name only a few. Numerous machine shops, fabricators, and smaller industries are located throughout the Latrobe Area, along with construction firms, contractors, and building supplies businesses. |
| Retail businesses can be found along the Route 30 corridor (which includes Mountain Laurel Plaza, Colony of Latrobe, Latrobe 30 Shopping Center, and Unity Plaza), and its also home for many automobile-related businesses. Downtown Latrobe features a number of specialty retailers, and the citys Lincoln Road Shopping Center is also a shopping destination. There are also unique shops, restaurants, and treasures in Youngstown, Derry Borough, New Alexandria, and in the townships. |
| Healthcare and human services provide employment opportunities for a significant number of area residents, and there are many professional offices and service providers throughout the area. |
| Education-related neighbors include Saint Vincent College, Westmoreland County Community Colleges Laurel Education Center, two quality public school districts (Greater Latrobe and Derry Area), and the regional Christ the Divine Teacher elementary school of the Diocese of Greensburg. |
